The Brixton Pound (BÂ£) is a complementary currency used with local participating businesses in and around Brixton instead of ordinary cash. You can also use it electronically via text message. It stimulates local trade and helps keep more money in the local economy.

For the first time this month some Lambeth Council employees will be part paid in Brixton Pounds. Â The scheme gives all Lambeth Council employees the chance of receiving a portion of their salary in electronic Brixton Pounds (BÂ£e).
Employees can then spend their BÂ£e with local, independent businesses or donate to local charities and social enterprises. [...]
