In early 2007, the Lambeth Climate Action Group became aware that many people feel overwhelmed and helpless about climate change. The challenges of moving away from our dependence on fossil fuels seem so huge that the issue is viewed entirely negatively, leading to denial and demoralisation.
The idea behind transition is to encourage people to work together on positive, practical steps towards making the future brighter, gentler and greener. It won’t always be easy, but in this way we can convert an ‘inconvenient truth’ into a convenient opportunity to rethink, reconnect and relocalise.
In 2010 Transition Town Brixton became a community interest company with a mission to benefit the community. Our aim is to support the projects of our active members.
