Karibu Education Centre, 7 Gresham Road SW9 7PH: Tuesday 10 July 6.30 – 8.30 p.m
A real opportunity – with budget attached – to make a difference to Brixton. The area includes Slade Gardens and the Transition Centre. Please be there and we’ll get some real make a difference stuff rather than titivating and moving the paving slabs around at great expense which has happened before. Have a look at some of our visions, be inspired and take your own.
To see the map in detail see here: Brixton and Stockwell ‘It’s My Neighbourhood’ map
This is described as a ‘public realm improvement workshop’ focusing on Brixton town centre and a section of Stockwell up to Slade Gardens – see map. It is part of a programme called ‘It’s Your Neighborhood’ which will be coming to other areas.
It is really important to come to this one as the team is looking for solutions for the issues in this area so they are willing and able to listen. There is £200k of budget allocated to it and it needs to be spent before the end of the financial year.
The kinds of ideas include street works and promoting sustainable transport but also ‘greening’ such as tree planting, the creation of ‘parklets’, green roofs on bin stores.
There is another meeting on Thursday 19th July at the same time and place that will follow on from this, but the first one is where you get a chance to co-design the works.
