Mike and Dave (a Saltoun Road resident) doing initial planting of tomatoes and peppers in the Vida Walsh Garden, 21st July, 2010
Would you like to help us to plan and look after a small garden with Age Concern in the centre of Brixton just by Windrush Square on Wednesday afternoons? It is from 1.30 to 4.30 and is part of a skill share session ‘Meet@Vida’s’ which will have a ‘Show and Learn’ area. You can drop in any week, but if you know you are coming it would be good if you could let me know.
Address: 2b Saltoun Road, SW2 1EP
A start has been made on the garden – see attached photo. Many thanks to Mike and Dave (a Saltoun Road resident) for their work on this. The idea is to do something temporary quickly – a combination of food and flower plants. Meanwhile we will be running a design project to get people’s ideas. So, if you fancy suggesting a design for us, or coming in to give your comments, please do. I will send more out on this soon.
It would be good to have gardeners to share skills, ideas for the garden, or to help look after the garden. The Age Concern centre is for people aged 55 and over, but they would welcome younger people to this session to make it intergenerational. Though not including under 18′s (I think that has to be a special arrangement).
We hope to be having our regular meetings at the Vida Walsh Centre soon and to get involved in more activities with them, such as sewing and preserve making. All suggestions welcome. Please contact Penny at ttbfood@gmail.com
